Structure Of Pet Food Packaging

Jul 01, 2026

Outer Layer (Printing/Abrasion-resistant Layer): Typically PET (polyester) or BOPP; provides excellent printability, abrasion resistance, and puncture resistance, while protecting the ink and maintaining the package's appearance.
Intermediate Layer (Barrier Layer): A critical functional layer; commonly utilizes AL (aluminum foil for maximum barrier performance), VMPET (metallized PET for moderate barrier performance), or NY (nylon for enhanced toughness/puncture resistance) to block oxygen, light, and moisture, thereby preventing the oxidation and spoilage of fats and oils.
Inner Layer (Heat-sealing/Safety Layer): Typically PE (polyethylene), CPP (cast polypropylene), or EVOH; comes into direct contact with the food, must meet food-grade safety standards, and provides excellent heat-seal strength and moisture resistance.
