Requirements regarding materials used during the packaging, preservation, storage, and transportation of agricultural products
Article 29 of the *Law on Quality and Safety of Agricultural Products* stipulates: "Materials such as freshness-preservation agents, preservatives, and additives used during the packaging, preservation, storage, and transportation of agricultural products shall comply with relevant mandatory national technical specifications." Freshness-preservation agents refer to synthetic chemical substances or natural substances used to maintain the fresh quality of agricultural products, reduce losses during circulation, and extend storage life. Preservatives refer to synthetic chemical substances or natural substances used to prevent agricultural products from rotting or spoiling. Additives refer to synthetic chemical substances or natural substances added to improve the quality, color, aroma, flavor, and processing characteristics of agricultural products.
(1) It clarifies the requirements for the use of materials such as freshness-preservation agents, preservatives, and additives, mandating that any such materials used during the packaging, preservation, storage, and transportation of agricultural products must comply with relevant national regulations.
(2) It defines the categories of materials permitted for use during the packaging, preservation, storage, and transportation of agricultural products, specifically including freshness-preservation agents, preservatives, and additives.
(3) It stipulates that materials used during the packaging, preservation, storage, and transportation of agricultural products must meet mandatory requirements regarding safety, hygiene, and environmental protection issued by relevant national authorities.
