Materials For Garment Packaging

Jul 04, 2026

Garment packaging materials primarily include paper and plastic films.

1. Paper
There are many types of packaging paper, categorized as follows:
Base packaging paper: Kraft paper, parchment paper, translucent glassine paper, paperboard, etc.
Processed packaging paper: Moisture-proof paper, anti-rust paper, corrugated medium (fluting paper), HDPE synthetic paper, etc.
Different types of packaging paper serve different purposes based on their specific properties. For example, Kraft paper is tough, strong, and provides an effective air barrier, making it the most widely used type; moisture-proof paper is lightweight and protects against dampness, so it is frequently used for inner garment packaging; corrugated medium is the material used to produce corrugated cardboard boxes, primarily for outer packaging; paperboard is used not only for outer packaging boxes and bags but also for inner packaging to provide structural support (such as in shirt packaging); HDPE synthetic paper is a novel packaging material offering excellent whiteness and strength-it does not shrink, stretch, fuzz, or rust, and it inhibits mold growth.
2. Plastic Film
In garment packaging, plastic films are widely used for ready-to-wear garment bags due to their lightweight and transparent nature. Shirt collar stays are typically made from rigid plastic to ensure the collar maintains an upright position after packaging.
Material selection must comply with environmental protection standards . Future garment packaging design will place greater emphasis on environmental protection and sustainability; designers are utilizing renewable materials and creating recyclable packaging structures to minimize environmental impact .
Additionally, items such as plastic clips, hangers, pins, safety pins, and hangtags are frequently used in garment packaging. For instance, safety pins are commonly used when packaging swimwear and children's clothing to ensure safety during use.
